Prior Experience

Before founding Law Office of Michael Grenert, PLLC in 2015, Mr. Grenert was at another employment law firm as a Partner for 15 years and as an Associate for 4 years before that.  

In the year after graduating from law school, Mr. Grenert was Law Clerk to the Hon. Richard Newman, Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey. He drafted several published opinions, including Woods-Pirozzi v. Nabisco Foods, 290 N.J. Super. 252 (App. Div. 1996), noteworthy for establishing that an employer can be liable under New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination for the sexual harassment of an employee by an independent contractor if the employer is negligent in handling the employee’s complaints about the contractor’s behavior.  http://law.justia.com/cases/new-jersey/appellate-division-published/1996/a5108-94-opn.html

Speaking Engagements and Testimony

Mr. Grenert has appeared on employment law-related panels for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, including the NYU Workshop on Employment Law for Federal Judges from 2014-2017, the National Employment Lawyers Association/New York (NELA/NY)'s Spring Conference (a panel on arbitration), and the New York City Bar Association's CLE on Employee Dismissals:  Avoiding the Pitfalls in 2014. 

He has also testified before The New York City Council Committee On Civil Rights, and the New York State Assembly Standing Committees on Judiciary and Consumer Affairs And Protection on various employment-related bills and issues.

Other Interests

Mr. Grenert is an avid tennis player. Having competed at the high school and collegiate levels, he continues to play competitive tennis on USTA league teams.
